01Chemical residue

Typical baby clothing

Wrinkle-resist finishes routinely leave formaldehyde at 75–300 ppm — a known skin irritant.

Pedloom

Below detectable levels. Less than 16 ppm — far below the strictest infant safety standard.

02Heavy metals

Typical baby clothing

Common dyes leave traces of lead, cadmium and antimony detectable on first contact with skin.

Pedloom

Undetectable. We use only certified organic dyes, fixed without metal chemicals. Every batch is screened.

03Bacteria levels

Typical baby clothing

A standard baby blanket harbors harmful bacteria levels after just one week of normal use.

Pedloom

99.4% bacteria reduction after 7 days, maintained across 50 wash cycles. Independently verified.

Our process

Four checkpoints.
Every single garment.

  1. 01

    Cotton selection

Raw Pima cotton is tested for length, fineness, and purity before it reaches the spinning floor.

  2. 02

    Dye safety audit

Every dye batch is logged and tested for pH, heavy metals, and residual chemicals. Nothing goes untested.

  3. 03

    Antibacterial testing

Fabric swatches are tested against common bacteria, incubated 24 hours, and verified by an independent lab.

  4. 04

    Touch & feel check

Every finished batch is hand-checked by senior technicians against a master sample. If it doesn’t match, it doesn’t ship.

Loved by parents.
Trusted by doctors.

“I wanted the first cloth my daughter touched to be the cleanest thing in the room. This is the only brand where the lab report actually matches the marketing.”

Inês P. Mother of two · Lisbon

“Most ‘baby-safe’ textiles I see in clinic are regular cottons with marketing on the label. Pedloom is the only brand I’ve tested where the fabric still meets spec after fifty home washes. I recommend it to my patients with sensitive skin.”

Dr. Mariana Alves, MD PhD Pediatric Dermatologist

“My son has eczema and reacts to almost everything. These are the only clothes he doesn’t scratch at. We’ve washed them dozens of times and they’re still incredibly soft.”

Common questions
from parents.

Is the antibacterial finish safe for a newborn’s skin?

Yes. The finish is bonded to the cotton fibres at a molecular level — it’s not a topical coating that rubs off. It’s the same technology used in hospital nursery covers, tested for irritation and sensitisation. Less than 0.04 ppm is released per wash.

How does it stay antibacterial after 50 washes?

The active agents are bonded during our wet-process step, not padded on at the end. We test at wash 1, 25, and 50, and publish all three results on the certificate that ships with your order.

Can I machine-wash and tumble-dry it?

Yes. 40°C cotton cycle, low tumble. Skip the fabric softener (it coats the fibres and reduces the antibacterial effect). The fabric actually gets softer after the first few washes.

Where is it made?

Spun, woven, finished and cut at a single mill in Northern Portugal — the same facility that supplies several European hospital systems. We are the only retail brand they work with.

Can I try the fabric before buying?

Yes — we’ll send you a 10 × 10 cm swatch with a printed quality certificate, anywhere in the world. No cost, no obligation, no marketing emails. Request one below.
